Accessible Viewing to Main Street
As an Autism Friendly Town, Killarney wants everyone to have to have the #samechance to enjoy the Christmas in Killarney festival. Each year we work on improving the experience for everyone. Autism-friendly viewing areas are available at Lewis Road for the Magic Parades, while at Santa’s Grotto the music is kept low and the lights are gentle to create a calm atmosphere. We provide visual guides to help people to prepare for their visit to our events.
There are a number of champion businesses in Killarney where sensory boxes are available. Please ask and they will be happy to help to the best of their capability. A full list of champion businesses is available on killarney.ie
We are always looking introducing further supports in order to make our festival more Autism Friendly. Be patient with us, we are all learning, but together we can raise awareness of Autism in Ireland. After all, we all deserve to have the #samechance.

Santa’s Grotto at Golden Gate Cottage is wheelchair accessible.
Standard buggies be left in our designated buggy park. Specially adapted buggies and mobility units are always fully accommodated inside.
Santa’s Grotto is Autism Friendly
Santa and his Elves are proud participants in the AsIAm autism-friendly program.
Please inform the check-in Elf on arrival so we can provide you with an AsIAm lanyard and ensure your family gets any extra time or support needed.
